Some Monte Carl 0 Results on Nonparametric Changepoint Tests

چکیده
For long periods since 1982, core inflation has behaved as if it were generated by a process with a fixed mean and serially independent error term. Nonparametric changepoint tests proposed by Pettitt (1979) and Lombard (1987) suggest that since 1982, changes in core inflation have been infrequent and rather abrupt. However, little is known about the small-sample properties, the power of the tests, or the robustness of changepoint tests when a series is not i.i.d. This paper uses Monte Carlo analysis to investigate the probabilities of false positive tests under alternative assumptions about the time-series properties of the underlying process. clevelandfed.org/research/workpaper/index.cfm clevelandfed.org/research/workpaper/index.cfm

Nonparametric Methods for Online Changepoint Detection
Changepoints have been extensively analysed in order to identify structural changes in time series data, typically when the data are of known parametric form. This report presents an exploration of methods to detect changepoints in a nonparametric setting, where no assumptions are made with regard to the distributional structure of the data, yet must still maintain a specified level of performa...
متن کاملA Nonparametric Goodness-of-fit-based Test for Conditional Heteroskedasticity∗
In this paper we propose a nonparametric test for conditional heteroskedasticity based on a new measure of nonparametric goodness-of-fit (R2). In analogy with the ANOVA tools for classical linear regression models, the nonparametric R2 is obtained for the local polynomial regression of the residuals from a parametric regression on some covariates. It is close to 0 under the null hypothesis of c...
متن کاملNonparametric K-Sample Tests with Panel Count Data
In this manuscript, we study the nonparametric k-sample test problem with panel count data. The asymptotic normality of a smooth functional of the nonparametric maximum pseudo-likelihood estimator (Wellner and Zhang, 2000) is established under some mild conditions. We construct a class of easy-to-implement nonparametric tests for comparing mean functions of k populations based on this asymptoti...
متن کاملA Simulation Study of a Bayesian Hierarchical Changepoint Model with Covariates
This paper presents a simulation study to investigate the behavior of estimates of covariate effects in a Bayesian hierarchical changepoint model. The model is a segmented linear regression model with one changepoint within a fully Bayesian framework. We introduce covariate effects into the model in three ways: as an affect on the interaction term, an affect on the slope after the changepoint, ...
متن کاملOn the performance of nonparametric specification tests in regression models
Some recently developed nonparametric specification tests for regression models are described in a unified way. The common characteristic of these tests is that they are consistent against any alternative hypothesis. The performance of the test statistics is compared by means of Monte Carlo simulations, analysing how heteroskedasticity, number of regressors and bandwidth selection influence the...
